The holidays are quickly approaching, and the SNAP program has possibly come to an end. Folks if you can find it in your heart, reach out and help someone with resources or assistance. The other day I was in the store, and a man approached me while I was shopping, and it startled me because I wasn’t expecting it. He wanted some chips, needed someone to buy them for him. He quickly got ushered out the store by security. I proceeded to check out and walked to my car I didn’t see him. Normally I would just get in my car and head to my next location but this time I drove around the store to see if I could find him to give him the change of cash I had. I found him and as I was handing it over to him, I immediately put a request to the use of the donation. As I drove away, a voice said “if you give it, you should not request how to spend it! As giving should be given out of the heart of a man not to given with an obligation. Sometimes we give with the expectation that it should be used in a specific way. Well, if you ever feel the need to give know that we should not expect anything from it and that giving is a form of CARING. And as one slogan went “Sharing is Caring”!

Monthly SEA holds it Representative Assembly (RA), All members are welcome to attend. We hold space set aside to uplift the voices of our BIPOC represented educators during the 9:29 reflect on the George Floyd uprise in April 2021. Your CRSJ advisory team wants to ensure all members who are Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and who culturally and historically come into this space via family lineage, ancestry homelands or our ethnicity affiliation to speak out into the space.

With the SEA CRSJ Len Hill Leader and Advocacy Grant Program, Racial Equity Teams (RET’s) led by SEA members can apply for grants of $500, $750, or $1500 to fund racial equity work in their SPS school building/programs during the 2025-2026 school year.
Do you know that this year around May we will be starting to meet with SPS on our current collective Bargaining Agreement. We will need all of you to vote for this new contract. To ensure that you are diverse in this work and if you have an interest in learning about how to bargain. See below the training that is being offered by our own WEA staff.

CRSJ is partnering with the Washington State Labor Council’s Union, Community & Naturalization Organizer Dulce Gutierrez to present a Know Your Rights Training to interested staff at your next SPS GREEN DAY.
All school district educators should be aware of their rights and learn how to exercise them effectively. This training covers the basics of how educators can protect themselves at work, at home, or in public, by exercising their rights and being prepared when interacting with law enforcement, including immigration agents. This 2-hour educational training will help attendees learn more about new immigration policies, how to organize with colleagues, and how to create a plan that makes sense for each worksite.
