Our public schools could not function without the work of substitute educators like you. Seattle is one of the few districts in Washington where substitutes are unionized. Through our organizing substitutes in Seattle like you have won the best pay and benefits in the State and we continue to fight for improvements and fairness.

Each bargaining unit in our union has a substitute section that speaks specifically to substitute issues. Language in our contracts that apply to staff apply to all staff including substitute educators.

Our Substitute Department meets the 4^th Wednesday of each month from 5-6:30 on zoom. During these meetings we share updates and useful information, hear from members on issues you are facing, and determine priorities for what to focus our organizing on.
