2025 SPECIAL ELECTION SEA Vice President – Candidate Info

In accordance with the SEA Bylaws, the vacant SEA Vice President position shall be filled for the unexpired term by a special election simple majority vote of the Association membership.

Voting will be done through the American Arbitration Association (AAA), a firm with extensive experience working with clients in the non-profit and union sectors.

CANDIDATES FOR SEA VICE PRESIDENT (IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER):

Davina Diaz

Hello & Håfa Adai!
I am proud to be the daughter of an SPS special education teacher, a graduate of Nathan Hale High School, and 15-year veteran SPS special education instructional assistant currently at Lowell Elementary on Capital Hill.
I am honored to be your current elected SEA Treasurer, and I have served in numerous leadership roles within our union for the past nine years. I have a proven track record of fighting for racial & social equity initiatives, fair wages, and inclusive policies at the table with our district and within our union.
I have experience with contract bargaining, contract enforcement, and member mobilization. As an Education Support Professional (ESP), I know the importance of ensuring all SEA members earn a living wage.
If elected to complete the term as SEA Vice President, I’ll continue to drive member engagement and empower new union leaders. Strong relationships and unity are keys to securing the wins we deserve now more than ever. Together, let’s build a positive union culture where educators can fully meet our students’ academic, social, and emotional needs.
I ask for your VOTE, Davina for Vice President of SEA LEADERSHIP WITH INTEGRITY and ADVOCACY FOR ALL!

Jeff Paul

I heard NEA President Becky Pringle speak at WEA RA about fighting back against the many attacks against public education and decided to run for Vice President.
As a board member of the Para Department, AR for seven years, MLK Labor delegate, and member of SEA’s political committee, I’ve developed a strong understanding of our union and what we need to do moving forward.
I’m a community organizer, that’s the lens I bring. Outside of SEA, I helped lead two successful voter initiative campaigns for social housing and progressive revenue. If we’re going to win a strong contract, we need a coalition of educators, parents, students, and community organizations standing with us for the schools our students deserve.
During the 2022 strike, we stood together in powerful solidarity, fired up for change. Although bargaining teams worked hard, communication from SEA leadership was disconnected from membership.
I’m motivated to bridge the gaps between union leadership and members, prioritizing transparency and communication. In our efforts to re-engage members ahead of our full bargain, our members and the community need to know what we’re fighting for and make our most important decisions together.
Transparency, empowering members, fighting together. SEA strong. Vote Jeff Paul.
